Under the TIFA and E3 Work Plan, ASEAN and the U.S. have strengthened cooperation in a broad ranges of areas, including but not limited to digital trade, trade facilitation, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), environment, agricultural biotechnology, development and harmonisation of standards and conformance. 

Under the US-ASEAN Connect, the focuses have been on increasing opportunities in the energy sector, building a free and open digital economy, facilitating two-way trade, support for small and medium- sized enterprises, and encouraging young innovators and entrepreneurs.
