The outgoing Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN, H.E. Amb. Hjayceelyn M. Quintana, paid a farewell call on the Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat today. SG Dr. Kao expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Hjayceelyn for her vital role in the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) as well as her efforts during the Philippines’ role as Country Coordinator of the ASEAN-European Union (EU) Dialogue Relations. The Secretary-General of ASEAN assured the Ambassador of his continued support to her successor and the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to ASEAN. Dr. Kao also wished the Ambassador every success in her future roles and endeavours.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. ASEAN organs always strive to achieve ASEAN’s goals and objectives, the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat shall be functioned as coordinating Secretariat to help facilitate effective decision-making withing and amongst ASEAN bodies.
