JAKARTA, 27 February 2017 –  Ambassador Busadee Santipitaks, the Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN, called on Secretary-General of ASEAN Le Luong Minh on 24 February to bid farewell. Ambassador Busadee’s assignment in Jakarta ends in early March 2017.

SG Minh expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Busadee for her dedication and contribution to the work of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) to ASEAN and to the ASEAN community building process. He also congratulated Ambassador Busadee on her appointment as the Director-General of the Department of Information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

SG Minh and Ambassador Busadee exchanged views on the role of the CPR in the ASEAN community building process and stressed that the CPR should play an active role in coordinating the work of ASEAN across the three pillars. This role includes advancing ASEAN’s external relations especially through its engagement with the non-ASEAN East Asia Summit Ambassadors, Ambassadors of other regional groupings such as the Economic Cooperation Organisation and Gulf Cooperation Council as well as the Non-ASEAN Accredited Ambassadors to ASEAN, among others.

Ambassador Busadee assured SG that she would continue promoting the work of ASEAN to bring ASEAN closer to the people at her new post in Bangkok, while SG Minh said that the ASEAN Secretariat would extend its full support to her successor.
