Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. Taro Kono, signed the Agreement on Technical Cooperation between ASEAN and the Government of Japan on 13 May 2019 in Tokyo. The Agreement sets out a legal framework for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to provide direct assistance to ASEAN as an international organization. The signing of this Agreement is an important step forward to further strengthen ASEAN-Japan cooperation.
The Secretary-General of ASEAN is in Tokyo at the invitation of Foreign Minister Kono. On this occasion, he is also scheduled to meet with a number of other Japanese Ministers, Senior Officials and business leaders to discuss issues of mutual interest.
