Today, Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn attended the launch of the Maybank Silk Weaving Training Centre in Siem Reap, Cambodia. In his remarks, Dr Kao commended the continued support of Maybank Foundation in preserving and promoting the region’s textile weaving traditions while building livelihood for ASEAN women through capacity building and transfer of knowledge. Dr Kao also extended his felicitations to the graduating batch of weavers for their hard work and dedication to upskill themselves and wished them the best for their next endeavours.

Dr Kao looked forward to similar activities to promote the ASEAN Identity and advance ASEAN Community building efforts.

The centre’s launch was symbolised with a ribbon cutting by the Chairman of Maybank Group and Maybank Foundation Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa and Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn. Dr Kao also witnessed a plaque signing to commemorate the occasion.
