The Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Kao Kim Hourn, attended the 11th EAS Economic Ministers’ Meeting, which was held earlier today in Semarang, Indonesia. The Meeting underscored the importance of strengthening practical cooperation amongst the EAS Participating Countries (EPCs) to bolster economic resilience in the region.
During the Meeting, Dr. Kao underscored the critical role of EPCs in addressing the climate crisis to speed up the region’s economic recovery, build a more sustainable future, create employment, and increase resilience against environmental impact. The Meeting also noted ERIA’s presentation on “Driving Circular Economy Transition through Digitalisation: A Strategy for Collective Action in East Asia Summit (EAS) Countries” which underlines the need for EPCs to promote regulatory and policy environment that are supportive of transition and digital transformation.
