The Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn today attended the 55th AEM – 37th ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) Council Meeting. The meeting which was chaired by H.E. Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Trade, Republic of Indonesia, discussed the progress of the implementation of the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA).
In addition, the Meeting also monitored the ongoing process of the ATIGA upgrade negotiation, which was started in 2022. The upgrade aims to ensure that the ATIGA will be a modern, forward-looking Agreement, more comprehensive in scope, and responsive to regional and global developments
