Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today attended the SEANWFZ Commission Meeting, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Chaired by Malaysia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, the Meeting adopted the Addendum to the SEANWFZ Treaty, paving the way for Timor-Leste’s accession to the Treaty by the end of the year. A symbolic ceremony was held at the end of the Meeting to mark the deposit of the Addendum with Thailand as the Depositary State of the SEANWFZ Treaty. The Meeting was attended by all members of the SEANWFZ Commission, and Timor-Leste as Observer.
