Secretary-General of ASEAN briefs diplomatic corps on outcomes of 56th AMM and Related Meetings

Today, Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn briefed the diplomatic corps and the media on the key outcomes of the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), Post Ministerial Conferences, 13th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the 30th ASEAN Regional Forum held on 8-15 July in Jakarta. Dr Kao shared the key takeaways from the series of meetings, which highlighted ASEAN Centrality, the relevance of ASEAN-led mechanisms, and the continued support from external partners for ASEAN’s Community-building efforts beyond 2025.


Post-briefing, Dr Kao convened a pull-aside meeting with the Permanent Representative of Lao PDR to ASEAN Ambassador Bovonethat Douangchak. They discussed preparations for Lao PDR’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2024.
