Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, delivered a speech at the opening session of the ASEAN Workshop on Sustainable Development (AWSD) 2025, in Sunway University, Malaysia, on 13-14 January 2025, along with H.E. YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation of Malaysia and Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
In his speech SG Dr. Kao emphasised the importance of forging robust partnerships among governments, civil society, the private sector and academia to ensure sustainable and inclusive development in ASEAN. The Workshop brought together regional leaders and experts to explore collaborative strategies for advancing sustainable development in ASEAN. Dr. Kao reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to accelerating the progress of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through strong partnerships and shared benefits, ASEAN aims to achieve lasting sustainable and inclusive progress for the region.
