Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 22 July 2026, delivered pre-recorded remarks at the 2nd Plenary Session of the 17th AIPA Caucus, held under the theme “Strengthening ASEAN Centrality in Navigating Complex Global Challenges.”
In his remarks, SG Dr. Kao reaffirmed the important role of parliamentary collaboration in advancing common legislative initiatives and in promoting greater harmonisation of laws across ASEAN Member States in support of ASEAN Community-building efforts. Dr. Kao further emphasised that stronger synergy between ASEAN’s intergovernmental processes and national parliaments is essential to translate regional commitments into domestic action, strengthen the implementation of regional collective aspirations, while ensuring a robust ASEAN Centrality, so that the benefits of ASEAN integration are enjoyed by its people.
