Earlier today, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, delivered recorded remarks at the Opening Session of the ASEAN Disability Rights Workshop, held from 16-18 September 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand led by SOMSWD and supported by USAID.
SG Dr. Kao emphasised the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration, especially with the private sector, to advance the rights of persons with disabilities, where every individual can thrive with dignity and respect. He highlighted ASEAN’s progress through the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025, the ASEAN Declaration on Disability Inclusive Development and Partnership for a Resilient ASEAN Community, the Network of Experts on Inclusive Entrepreneurship for ASEAN, and disability-inclusive initiatives such as Go Digital ASEAN and ASEAN Access LEARN, among others.
