Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today visited the Central Juvenile Correctional Institution in Bangkok, Thailand, where he delivered a special lecture on “Educating for a Better Life: Fostering Quality Citizens.” Dr. Kao emphasised the importance of education, self-improvement and resilience as pathways to a brighter future. He encouraged the youth to embrace learning opportunities, peace and tolerance as well as develop positive life skills in preparing for reintegration into society as responsible citizens. He further underscored the need for youth’s vigilance against emerging threats of transnational crime. The lecture reflects ASEAN’s commitment to supporting rehabilitative and educational efforts within the region’s correctional institutions, highlighting the shared goal of fostering inclusive societies, in helping equip individuals with the opportunities and skills to contribute meaningfully.
