Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, delivered a video message at the Launch of the ASEAN-UK Health Security Partnership Programme, held on 4 July 2025 at the sideline of the 19th ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting on Health Development (SOMHD) in Selangor, Malaysia. In his remarks, Dr. Kao congratulated the ASEAN Health Sector and the UK Mission to ASEAN for their collaborative efforts in developing this important initiative which will strengthen regional measures and activities to protect ASEAN people from health threats and emergencies.

Dr. Kao reiterated the importance of this 5-year programme in representing the significant commitment of the ASEAN and the United Kingdom in strengthening health security in the region. Dr. Kao expressed his confidence that the initiative will contribute to meaningful progress towards achieving a healthy, caring, and sustainable ASEAN Community.
