On his last day in Jeju, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, delved into 35 years of ASEAN-ROK dialogue relations, exploring the potential of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, during his interview with media outlets, including Herald Business, Yonhap news, News 1, KCTV and New Jeju Daily. Dr. Kao also emphasized ASEAN’s unwavering commitment to supporting peace, stability and development in the region and beyond for wider prosperity of the peoples of ASEAN and the Republic of Korea.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. ASEAN organs always strive to achieve ASEAN’s goals and objectives, the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat shall be functioned as coordinating Secretariat to help facilitate effective decision-making withing and amongst ASEAN bodies.
