On his first day in Siem Reap, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, this afternoon met with H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation of Cambodia. Dr. Kao congratulated Cambodia for hosting the 20th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology, and Innovation (AMMSTI-20) this year. Both sides discussed the pivotal role of AI in shaping ASEAN and Cambodia’s future, including the selection of theme “AI Application: Navigating the Future,” which are timely, relevant and align with ASEAN’s focus, outlined in the ASEAN Plan of Action on STI (APASTI) and ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA). These initiatives will provide a strategic impetus to drive collective actions at the regional level towards STI development for ASEAN.
