Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today had a brief pull-aside meeting with H.E. Sakai Manabu, Chairperson of the National Public Safety Commission, Minister in charge of Building National Resilience, Minister in charge of Territorial Issues, Minister of State for Disaster Management and Minister of State for Ocean Policy of Japan, on the sidelines of the 19th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) and Its Related Meetings in Melaka, Malaysia. Both sides reaffirmed the shared commitment of ASEAN and Japan to strengthening regional security through practical cooperation under the AMMTC + Japan Consultation framework. They also exchanged views on Japan’s role as the Coordinator among the Plus Three countries in promoting a more unified and coordinated approach to addressing the pressing challenges of transnational crime.
