Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, this morning delivered opening remarks at the ASEAN Investment Forum (AIF) 2024, in Vientiane, Lao PDR, together with H.E. Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR, H.E. Dr. Armida Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of ESCAP, and Mr. Oudet Souvannavong, Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
The AIF aims to create awareness of ASEAN as an attractive investment destination and increase investment opportunities by forming links with potential investors and other economies.
The opening session was also seen with the launch of the ASEAN Regional Investment Promotion Action Plan 2025-2030, a dynamic and comprehensive work plan for ASEAN Member States to collaborate in promoting investment across the region.
