After a successful meeting, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Dr Kao Kim Hourn, joined H.E. Malaithong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Lao PDR, Chair of the ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Meeting this year in briefing the media on the outcomes of the 30th AEM Retreat. At the Retreat, ASEAN Member States expressed their support for Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year. The Ministers exchanged views on the regional and global economic situation, discussed the progress of some key initiatives under the ASEAN Economic Community in the areas of digital transformation, sustainability, and supply chain resiliency. The Meeting also adopted the ASEAN Services Facilitation Framework, which complements the open Market Access liberalisation resulting from ASEAN’s existing services integration.
