On 12 June 2024, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Kao Kim Hourn, launched the ASEAN-U.S. Center’s Speaker Series in Washington D.C. Dr. Kao spoke on “ASEAN-United States Comprehensive Strategic Partnership:  Partners for Peace, Prosperity, and People,” where he outlined the immense contribution of the U.S. in supporting ASEAN Community building efforts and in the maintenance of peace, stability and prosperity in the region. Dr. Kao discussed ideas on how both sides could further elevate their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to greater heights, by intensifying its collaboration with ASEAN across the spectrum of the ASEAN Community pillars, thus playing a greater role in the Indo-Pacific amidst the growing geo-strategic and geo-economic challenges that the world is facing.
