At the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs ofthe Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn will lead the ASEAN Secretariat delegation to attend the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 20 October. The summit will provide a platform for ASEAN Leaders and GCC Member States to discuss ways to substantiate the partnership and exchange views on matters of mutual interest and concern. The key outcomes of the summit would include the issuance of a Joint Statement for ASEAN-GCC Summit and ASEAN-GCC Framework of Cooperation for the period of 2024-2028.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Brunei Darussalam joined ASEAN on 7 January 1984, followed by Viet Nam on 28 July 1995, Lao PDR and Myanmar on 23 July 1997, and Cambodia on 30 April 1999, making up what is today the ten Member States of ASEAN.Menu - WHAT WE DO
