Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today met with H.E. Bendito dos Santos Freitas, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, in Dili, on the sidelines of his working visit to Timor Leste to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the Restoration of Independence of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The meeting focused on Timor-Leste’s integration process as a full member of ASEAN and the country’s contributions to ASEAN Community-building efforts, including participation in the ASEAN Political-Security, ASEAN Economic, and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community pillars and broader regional cooperation. SG Dr. Kao reaffirmed the ASEAN Secretariat’s continued support through technical assistance, capacity-building, and coordination, among others.
