Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn today met with Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Dr. Amin Liew Abdullah at the Ministry of Finance and Economy in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. During the meeting, Dr. Kao commended Brunei Darussalam’s diversification strategy which is expected to significantly contribute towards enhancing the region’s economic resilience.
They discussed issues related to intra-ASEAN trade, ASEAN’s digital transformation under the Bandar Seri Begawan Roadmap, as well as the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), among others.
Dr. Kao also affirmed the ASEAN Secretariat’s full support to the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change in Brunei Darussalam, which is expected to play an important role in strengthening ASEAN cooperation on climate change, especially in providing evidence-based policy recommendations and capacity building in addressing climate change in the region.
