Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn met with Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste Mr Jorge Manuel de Araújo Serrano, and prominent private sector representatives, in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, today. During the meeting, SG Dr Kao underscored that Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN will bring positive impacts to its economy, as the country’s economy will have an open market access to a huge and lucrative market in ASEAN. In this regard SG Dr Kao encouraged the private sector to fully support the Timor-Leste Government in their efforts in becoming a full member of ASEAN.
