Secretary-General of ASEAN. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 18 August 2026, met with H.E. Gustavo Ataide, Vice Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil, in Brasilia, during his Working Visit to Brazil. They exchanged views on strengthening ASEAN–Brazil energy cooperation, including energy security, renewable energy, bioenergy, sustainable fuels and opportunities for further technical and investment cooperation. Dr. Kao welcomed the progress of the ASEAN–Brazil cooperation on bioenergy and looked forward to building on the initiative through more practical and results-oriented cooperation that supports ASEAN’s efforts towards a secure, resilient and sustainable energy future.
