Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today joined the Ministers responsible for land, forest fires and haze from ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste, at the 20th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the ASEAN Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution (COP-20 AATHP) in Langkawi, Malaysia. In his remarks, Dr. Kao commended ASEAN’s continued efforts to prevent, monitor, and mitigate land and forest fires, reaffirmed the region’s commitment to fully implement the Agreement, and called for stronger partnerships, whole-of-society engagement, and youth empowerment to realise the vision of a haze-free ASEAN by 2030.
