Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today participated in the 21st ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation (AMMSTI-21) in Jakarta, Indonesia. The meeting adopted the ASEAN Plan of Action on STI (APASTI) 2026–2035, marking a milestone in building a collective and inclusive innovation ecosystem for the region. Themed “Empowering ASEAN’s STI Ecosystem: National Commitments for Regional Impact,” Ministers shared concrete actions to turn APASTI into reality, from aligning national priorities to strengthening regional coordination. SG Dr. Kao called for a stronger secretariat support and robust monitoring of APASTI, greater synergy across ASEAN sectors to avoid duplication, and ministerial dialogues with key partners to secure strategic STI cooperation, among others.
