Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today joined the Ministers responsible for environment from ASEAN Member States, Timor-Leste, and the EU Commissioners, at the inaugural ASEAN–EU Ministerial Dialogue on Environment and Climate Change in Langkawi, Malaysia. The ASEAN and EU counterparts exchanged views on advancing ASEAN-EU partnership on a number of priority areas including biodiversity conservation, circular economy, and climate resilience, among other. They agreed to jointly implement the ASEAN–EU Work Programme 2025–2026, and endorsed the Joint Media Statement to confirm the shared objective to strengthen ASEAN-EU partnership and commitment to fight against climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.
