Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today received a courtesy call from the newly appointed Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation for Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Mr. Martin de Boer, at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat. They discussed structured cooperation between ASEAN and the ICRC, including under the ASEAN Political-Security Community and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community pillars, as well as regional humanitarian affairs of common concern. Dr. Kao welcomed Mr. de Boer to his new role and reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to deepening engagement with the ICRC in advancing humanitarian assistance and promoting international humanitarian law in the region.
