Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today received UN Women Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Christine Arab, in a courtesy call that reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between ASEAN and UN Women in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment across the region. The meeting underscored key milestones, including the adoption and implementation of the ASEAN Regional Plan of Action on Women, Peace and Security, the launch of the ASEAN Gender Outlook 2024, and joint efforts on climate resilience, disaster management, and inclusive economic recovery. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to advancing gender equality across all three ASEAN Community Pillars and looked forward to deepening collaboration through the upcoming ASEAN–UN Plan of Action 2026–2030 to support gender-responsive, inclusive, and sustainable development.
