At the invitation of the Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Anthony Albanese, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, will lead the ASEAN Secretariat delegation to the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations, in Melbourne, Australia on 4-6 March 2024. The Special Summit will provide the Leaders an opportunity to review and take stock of the achievements of ASEAN-Australia relations over the last 50 years, as well as exchange views on relevant issues with an aim to strengthening the ASEAN-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During his stay in Melbourne, Dr. Kao is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Anthony Albanese; the Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator the Honourable Penny Wong; the Australian Minister of Trade and Tourism, Senator the Honourable Don Farrell; as well as the Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Honourable Christopher Luxon. In addition, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn will speak in a number of events organised at the sidelines of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit to advance ASEAN diplomacy and visibility.
