Secretary-General of ASEAN to participate in ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in Langkawi, Malaysia

At the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, The Honourable Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, will lead the ASEAN Secretariat delegation to participate in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat (AMM Retreat) in Langkawi, Malaysia, on 18-19 January 2025. The AMM Retreat would be the first gathering for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers in 2025. The meeting will commence discussions on key priorities of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” and chart ASEAN’s work for the rest of the year. Among the key topics of discussions will include the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and other important matters related to the ASEAN community building. The Retreat will also exchange views on regional and international issues. SG Dr. Kao is scheduled to meet with H.E. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lao PDR during his stay in Langkawi.
