At the invitation of H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn will lead the ASEAN Secretariat delegation to participate in the 20th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology, and Innovation (AMMSTI-20) in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on 6-7 June 2024. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn is invited to deliver Welcoming Speech during the Opening Ceremony of the AMMSTI-20. During his stay in Siem Reap, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn is scheduled to meet bilaterally with Ministers from ASEAN Member States, including H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the host of AMMSTI-20, as well as with H.E. Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia. Under the visionary theme “AI Application: Navigating the Future,” this year’s meeting focuses on strategic discussions pertaining to the integration of AI technologies in public and private sectors across the region.
- ABOUT ASEANThe Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. ASEAN organs always strive to achieve ASEAN’s goals and objectives, the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat shall be functioned as coordinating Secretariat to help facilitate effective decision-making withing and amongst ASEAN bodies. In addition, each Member State shall appoint a Permanent Representative to liaise with Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat
