At the invitation of H.E. Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Science and Technology of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, will lead the ASEAN Secretariat’s delegation to participate in the 6th ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting (ADGMIN) and related meetings, to be held in Hanoi, Viet Nam, on 14 -16 January 2026.The 6th ADGMIN and Related Meetings will discuss the way forward to advance ASEAN vision of building a leading and connected Digital and Technological Community with open and interoperable, secure and trusted digital ecosystem, including consideration and endorsement of the ASEAN Digital Masterplan (ADM) 2030 and ASEAN Cybersecurity Cooperation Strategy 2026-2030, which will chart ASEAN’s strategic direction for ASEAN’s collective efforts over the next five years. SG Dr. Kao is also scheduled to engage in bilateral meetings with Ministers and high-level representatives from the ASEAN Member States, Dialogue Partners of ASEAN as well as from the private sector.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Brunei Darussalam joined ASEAN on 7 January 1984, followed by Viet Nam on 28 July 1995, Lao PDR and Myanmar on 23 July 1997, and Cambodia on 30 April 1999, making up what is today the ten Member States of ASEAN.Menu - WHAT WE DO
ASEAN organs always strive to achieve ASEAN’s goals and objectives, the Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat shall be functioned as coordinating Secretariat to help facilitate effective decision-making withing and amongst ASEAN bodies. In addition, each Member State shall appoint a Permanent Representative to liaise with Secretary-General of ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat
