At the invitation of Professor Jeffrey Sachs, President of the UN Sustainable Development Network, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, will be participating at the ASEAN Workshop on Sustainable Development (AWSD) 2025, to be held at Sunway University, Malaysia, on 13-14 January 2025, where he will deliver a speech at the opening session. SG Dr. Kao will also engage in a panel discussion on moving the SDG agenda forward in ASEAN. The workshop will bring together regional leaders to discuss strategies for advancing sustainable development in the region focusing on areas such as education, environmental stewardship, trade and investment, energy, as well as smart and sustainable urban development.

Taking the opportunity of his stay in Malaysia, SG Dr. Kao is scheduled to hold a series of high-level bilateral meetings to further promote ASEAN’s awareness, public diplomacy as well as enhance regional cooperation.
