Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today witnessed the signing ceremony of the Cash Assistance Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre), which took place at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat. Under the agreement, China will provide US$1 million (approximately RMB 7.3 million) to support recovery efforts in Myanmar, including the reconstruction of schools for communities affected by the M7.7 magnitude Mandalay Earthquake earlier this year. The agreement was signed by Mr. Lee Yam Ming, Executive Director of the AHA Centre, and H.E. Hou Yanqi, Ambassador of China to ASEAN.
