Winners of ASEAN Youth Engagemnet in Early Warning aon Anticipatory Action Contest 2024

The ASEAN Youth Engagement in Early Warning on Anticipatory Action in disaster management in commemoration of the ASEAN Youth in Climate Action and Disaster Resilience Day was convened on 22 November 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. The event was co-organised by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Interior of Thailand as the Co-chair of Working Group on Prevention and Mitigation of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management, the ASEAN Secretariat and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). 

The event underscored the importance of active participation of the ASEAN youth in disaster management. Youth play a crucial role in disseminating early warning and facilitating learning around anticipatory action within their communities and across the ASEAN region, harnessing digital technologies. 15 winners were selected from over 200 applications across 10 ASEAN Member States from the ASEAN Youth Engagement in Early Warning on Anticipatory Action in disaster management contest. These winners were given the opportunity to present their ideas on how youth can take a more active role in disaster risk management and strengthening community resilience.
