The Conference of the High Contracting Parties to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia convenes today

The Conference of the High Contracting Parties to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) was held today at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat under the theme “Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia: Reflections and Future Direction.”  The Conference serves as a platform for the High Contracting Parties (HCPs) to the TAC to reaffirm their commitment to the principles of the TAC, discuss the implementation of the TAC and ways to enhance the relevance of the Treaty in the region and beyond, as well as explore future potential cooperation under the framework of the TAC.  Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn delivered opening remarks during the opening session of the Conference. The Conference was chaired by Chair of the Committee of the Permanent Representatives to ASEAN and the Permanent Representative of Lao PDR to ASEAN Bovonethat Douangchak, and was attended by the HCPs to the TAC as represented by their Ambassadors accredited to ASEAN/Indonesia or their representatives.
