A public lecture on “The U.S. Multilateralism and Asia” was held last week at The ASEAN Secretariat, celebrating the 35th Anniversary of ASEAN-U.S. Dialogue Relations. Mr. Nirav Patel, The United States Deputy Assistant of State for Strategy and Multilateral Affairs, delivered the lecture.

He also spoke on furthering cooperation on other areas of mutual interest between ASEAN and the U.S. such as fighting transnational issues and international crime.
The lecture drew broad attention and active participation from the audience, which included members of the diplomatic corps, Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPRs), the think-tanks, media, as well as students.
Organised by the ASEAN Secretariat together with the United States Mission, the lecture also featured Mr. Rizal Sukma, the Executive Director of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), and was moderated by the Editor-in-Chief of the Jakarta Post, Mr. Meidyatama Suryodiningrat.
