SINGAPORE, 21 October 2022 – Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), with support from the Republic Polytechnic of Singapore and the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC), concluded the third cycle of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Project Proposal Writing Training for Vietnamese officials, today.
The Vietnam-Singapore Cooperation Centre in Hanoi hosted the online training from October 10-21, attended by 27 Vietnamese officials from eight ministries and several institutions including the Supreme People’s Court of Viet Nam, Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour and Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organisation. The Republic Polytechnic of Singapore facilitated the first part of the training from October 10-14, while ASEC continued the second half from October 17-21.
ASEC trained the officials to develop a regional project proposal and manage the ASEAN cooperation projects (ACPs) using a results-based management approach that includes budget formulation, fund disbursements, and reporting. Meanwhile, the ASEAN-ROK Development Cooperation Programme Management team shared their experience in project proposal development from an ASEAN partner’s perspective.
At the training, participants learned about the mechanism to tap into available resources for ACPs and the processes throughout the ASEAN project cycle.
Following the five-day training with ASEC, participants developed four drafts of regional project proposals on improving health care system services and capacities in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam (CLMV); increasing export of high-quality fruits from ASEAN countries; enhancing facilitation for e-commerce of CLMV in ASEAN; and building a website to develop aquaculture products for Small Medium-Sized Enterprises in ASEAN.
At the end of the training, all participants received a certificate jointly issued by Singapore’s MFA and ASEC. The next training for Myanmar officials is scheduled for January 9- 20, 2023.
