Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, received a courtesy call by Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to ASEAN, H.E. Jalal Mirzayev, at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat today. During the meeting, the Ambassador handed over the invitation for SG Dr. Kao to participate in the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be hosted by Azerbaijan in November 2024. Both sides also exchanged views on ways to promote ASEAN-Azerbaijan cooperation and discussed potential collaboration in addressing climate change, among others.

Ambassador Mirzayev mentioned that his assignment as Ambassador of Azerbaijan to ASEAN would soon be concluded. Secretary-General Dr. Kao expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Mirzayev’s efforts in seeking Azerbaijan’s closer relations with ASEAN and ASEAN Member States.
