- The Twenty Second ASEAN Economic Ministers -India (AEM-India) Consultation was held on 26 September 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Consultation was co-chaired by H.E. Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, and H.E. Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, India. The Meeting also welcomed the participation of H.E. Filipus Nino Pereira, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste who joined the Meeting as an observer.
- The Meeting noted that, based on ASEAN’s preliminary statistics, two-way trade between ASEAN and India in 2024 reached USD 106.9 billion in 2024, whilst foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows from India reached USD 3.3 billion in the same year. These figures placed India as ASEAN’s eighth largest trading partner and tenth largest source of foreign direct investment last year.
