Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today received Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Zakri Abdul Hamid, Joint-Chairman of the Malaysian Industry–Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat. The discussion highlighted MIGHT’s preliminary proposal on the potential establishment of an ASEAN Centre for Science Diplomacy, aimed at promoting knowledge exchange, capacity building, and science-informed policymaking across the region, in alignment with the ASEAN Plan of Action on STI (APASTI) 2026–2035. The meeting also reinforced the vital role of diplomatic engagement and international partnerships in advancing ASEAN’s innovation and regional integration. It also reaffirmed the shared commitment to positioning ASEAN as a regional powerhouse in science, technology, and innovation, fostering collaboration for sustainable progress.
