A Global Conference on the 2030 Agenda: A Roadmap for SDGs in Fragile and Conflict-Affected States was convened on 22-23 May in Dili, Timor Leste. Representing the ASEAN Secretariat, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs AKP Mochtan spoke about ASEAN’s experiences and perspectives on sustainable development.

DSG Mochtan shared ASEAN’s initiatives in promoting complementarities between the ASEAN Vision 2025 and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Under the leadership of Thailand as the country coordinator of ASEAN on Sustainable Development Goals, ASEAN has undertaken activities to create synergies and promote complementarities such as the development of a joint report between Thailand, ASEAN Secretariat and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) on complementarities.

The conference was officiated by the President of Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste Francisco Guterres Lu-Olo. It was attended by the Vice Minister of Finance and Economic Development of Sierra Leone, Representative of G7+ Chairman,  and other high-ranking officials from Asia.
