The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) expresses its grave concern over the firing of a ballistic missile by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the early morning of 5 April 2017.
In this regard, ASEAN strongly urges the DPRK to comply fully with its obligations to all relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions in the interest of maintaining peace and security in the region.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
