ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on One Health Initiative

WE, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), namely Brunei Darussalam, the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Republic of Indonesia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand, and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, on the occasion of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, on 10 – 11 May 2023;

 

NOTING the devastating and multidimensional impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as other emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases including zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), growing impact and other challenges related to climate change on human lives and livelihoods, and the need to strengthen health systems to be resilient and responsive, as envisioned in ASEAN Blueprint;
