The ASEAN-New Zealand Dialogue Relations have significantly progressed in the areas of energy, disaster management, agro business and education, stated the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Rt. Hon. John Key, during a public address at the ASEAN Secretariat on 16 April.

Prime Minister Key further highlighted New Zealand’s enthusiasm about the rising middle class in ASEAN who are looking for quality education. He noted how “New Zealand has been one of the most popular destinations for quality education for ASEAN youths.”

Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Surin Pitsuwan, thanked New Zealand for being a loyal and supportive partner of ASEAN since the very beginning. The New Zealand-ASEAN link dates back to the 1975 when New Zealand became ASEAN’s second dialogue partner.
