KOTA KINABALU, 30 September 2025 – Senior officials from ASEAN convened the Second Meeting of the ASEAN Coordinating Task Force on Blue Economy (ACTF-BE) in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
Hosted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Economy, the meeting discussed key areas of regional cooperation, including the development of the ASEAN Blue Economy Implementation Plan (2026–2030), the governance structure of the ACTF-BE, and the strategic alignment of the Blue Economy with the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Strategic Plan 2026–2030, as well as priority actions to advance ASEAN’s collective efforts toward a resilient and sustainable blue economy.
The ACTF-BE reports directly to the ASEAN Coordinating Council and is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the implementation of all blue economy initiatives within ASEAN. Its functions also include fostering regional networks and partnerships, as well as conducting regular consultations with relevant stakeholders and partners, to effectively promote and realise ASEAN’s vision, objectives, and priorities for sustainable blue economic development.
