Recognising the important role of ASEAN in the region, Austria seeks to enhance cooperation with the Association. The new Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to ASEAN, Mrs. Helene Steinhäusl, conveyed this message during the presentation of her Letter of Credence to Secretary-General of ASEAN Le Luong Minh at the ASEAN Secretariat today.
Secretary-General Minh congratulated Ambassador Steinhäusl on her assumption of duty as Austria’s Ambassador to ASEAN and welcomed Austria’s interest in further strengthening cooperation with ASEAN and between ASEAN and the EU. He informed Ambassador Steinhäusl on the recent developments in ASEAN Community building, particularly on narrowing development gap among ASEAN Member States.
Secretary-General Minh and Ambassador Steinhäusl exchanged views on plans to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of ASEAN this year, as well as the 40th Anniversary of the ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations and the 60th Anniversary of the EU. They also exchanged views on the current international and regional issues.
