1. 1. The Second Meeting of ASEAN and Russian Federation Tourism Ministers was held on 4 February 2023, in conjunction with the 26th Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers (M-ATM), in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. H.E. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Republic of Indonesia, chaired the Meeting and H.E. Vladimir Ilyichev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, the Russian Federation, as Co-Chairman. The 2nd M-ATM Russia was preceded by the 13th ASEAN-Russia Tourism Consultation Meeting on 3 February 2023.

1. 2. Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, the Meeting was pleased to note that Southeast Asia is a preferred destination by Russian tourists as evidenced by the increase in international arrivals from Russia prior to the pandemic. The Meeting looked forward to increased tourism flows between ASEAN and the Russian Federation post pandemic, which would expedite recovery for the tourism industry on both sides.
